Kanakambra (Crossandra infundibuliformis)

Kanakambaram is also known as the Firecracker Flower after its exploding fruits. While most of us are taken aback by the orange flowers, not many notice that when the flowers are left on the plant they turn into fruits. High humidity and rainfall act as a trigger to explode the fruits and disperse the seeds far and wide.
