Aralia Gold plant care

Light

Aralia gold plant requires bright light and can tolerate some shading. Beneficial morning sunlight is good for the plant, but its delicate leaves can be damaged if exposed to direct sunlight during scorching afternoon hours.

Soil

Aralia plants prefer rich soil with good drainage. Clay or terracotta pots are recommended best as facilitate good water drainage.

Water

Keep the soil moist but never soggy. Water when the top soil seems dry. Cut down on watering during winter.

Fertilizer

During its growth season (spring to fall), your aralia should be given a liquid fertilizer on a monthly basis. If you observe the leaves dropping it is a sign that your plant needs more nutrients and should be fertilized.

Repotting

Repotting should be done annually or every other year, as needed. Although they tolerate being slightly pot-bound, it's advisable to freshen up or add new soil to the pot on a yearly basis.

Pests and Plant Diseases

Fortunately, the Ming aralia is generally pest-resistant. If you come across aphids, scale, mealybugs and spider mites, you can use a soap or neem oil solution to get rid of them.
